Freelance Writing Jobs: What Do Freelance Writers Do?

If you are looking for work as a freelance writer online but you are not having any luck, you may try sending out some resumes for freelance editing jobs.  However, there are key differences between freelance writing work and freelance editing work that you should keep in mind before deciding to apply for work as an editor.

What Do Freelance Writers Do?

Freelance writers do a lot, both online and offline. Freelance web writers are responsible for creating a large percentage of the written words that you see on various websites.  You may never have stopped to think about it before, but all of that content needs to come from somewhere.  That is where you come into play.  As a freelance writer you can write reviews, product descriptions, webpages, news articles, fictional stories, real-life experiences and more.

Writers also create text for use in printed periodicals, books, newspapers, brochures and any media that contains written language.  They also write scripts, educational texts, instruction manuals and more.  Writers may rely on their personal life experiences for some of their work, while they rely on research and data for other more technical pursuits.

Freelance writers offer their services to a variety of clients across a wide range of industries and generally work on a contract basis.  Freelance writers are self-employed and may benefit from joining content production houses for regular work when they are in-between contracts.
